This is another amazing bass guitar from Fender which has been brought down in price over the last few years. By changing the way they manufacture and produce the guitars, they have created a bass guitar which is professional without the astronomical price tag. This one looks amazing, sounds amazing, and plays amazing. If you are a professional musician on a budget, then this is worth a look.

Fender Standard Jazz Electric Bass Guitar - Maple Fingerboard, Black
  • The Standard Series is the perfect choice for any musician looking to upgrade to a professional level instrument
  • The Standard Jazz Bass comes equipped with two modern style single-coil Jazz Bass pickups for clear and articulate tone
  • The tinted "C" shape neck provides universal comfort and vintage styling

Body & Neck

The solid-wood body looks amazing and is the start of a classic and professional instrument. After starting with quality wood, you have a choice of multiple finishes. The only problem is choosing which one will look the best on stage.

The neck is solid maple, which is both durable and warm-sounding. The shape is a modern s-shape, which is popular among many musicians. You have a 20-fret fingerboard crafted from high-quality rosewood. The strings are well-spaced, and you can pick the strings with ease.

The shape of the neck combined with the vintage look of the guitar makes for one which is easy to play and feels very comfortable. It is great for all types of music but lends itself well to jazz.

Hardware

You have a pair of single-could standard jazz pickups on the body. Connected to these are two volume knobs, one for each pickup, and a tone knob. We like how responsive these pickups are, and you can get some great tones while being amazed at how easy the guitar is to play.

The 4-saddle vintage bridge looks great and adds some style to your play. Not only does the bridge add some warmth and shine to your notes, but it allows you to customize the strings too for the sound that you want.

The tuning pegs and strings are what you would expect from a guitar in this price range. They are great-sounding and get the job done.

Sound

You expect a jazzy sound from a bass jazz guitar and Fender does not disappoint. The notes are warm and bright at the same time, and the strings are spaced far enough for you to pick the strings easily without hitting the others.

This may be a professional guitar, but the sounds which come out of it will make it appealing to beginners too. It has a lot of warmth, sustain, and is very forgiving. Even beginners will find that they can create great music with this guitar.

It is loud and can fill a room with the right amplification. It is reasonably fast and smooth and will add a lot to your sound.

Conclusion

This is definitely a bass guitar aimed at professionals with a price tag slightly below what you would expect to pay. Saying that, if a beginner wants to invest in a guitar which will last, then this bass is great to learn on and will last you a lifetime. It is full of jazz, tone, and brightness.
