  • 1 Special Design Single-Coil Pickup

Body & Neck

The Bronco has a bolt-on neck which comes in at 30” scale length. One of the things which beginner bassist struggle with is getting to grips with the sheer size of a bass guitar. That is not a problem with this one, and it is easy to learn on before you move up to a longer guitar.

The body of this Fender is sleek and elegant, and you will not believe that you are getting a bass for under $200 which looks so great. You get a double-cutaway with a lightweight body, crafted from Agathis. This wood is cheaper than some others but still sounds great while keeping the price down. The finishes accentuate the natural qualities of the wood.

There are 19 jumbo frets on the neck which are spaced well and help new players get to grips with the frets (literally) — an easy and comfortable bass to play.

Hardware

There are no surprises with this Fender bass when it comes to the hardware. What you see is what you get, but the hardware is of good quality for the price that you pay. There is one single-soil pickup designed specifically for use on a bass guitar, accentuating the sound but not giving the versatility that more advanced users may be used to.

The two-saddle chrome bridge is pretty standard and gives you the sound you want while keeping things simple. The tuning pegs on the headstock are standard too, yet good-quality, coming from Fender.

You get what you need and nothing more.

Sound

Where this guitar shines is in the sound. You will be hard-pressed to find a better-sounding guitar for the price. The single-coil pickup delivers some amazing music quality, and the notes are bright and lively, with crystal clear clarity between each one.

The tones from this guitar are warm and rich, better than you would expect them to sound. It has a lot of punch for rocking out while having a mellowness which is well-suited to jazz music. It does not have the depth and quality of a more expensive Fender, but it does have a lot to work with.

Conclusion

For a budget guitar, this one punches well above its weight. The hardware and body are pretty standard, but the sound is not. The notes are warm and crisp, great for learning, and the frets are extremely easy to get your fingers on and play — a wonderful guitar at a low price.
